I'm a writer, editor and cultural critic based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
My latest book, How Artists Make Money & How Money Makes Artists, is out now from Coach House Books.
My first book, On Nostalgia, came out in 2020. Prior to that I spent six years as a critic and columnist in the arts section for Canada's National Post, and my work has appeared in the Globe and Mail, Hazlitt, the Walrus, Toronto Life, the CBC and elsewhere, though I have a particular fondness for my time working for numerous dearly departed alt-weeklies.
Iām also honoured to serve as an Editorial Consultant for Coach House Books, acquiring and editing works of creative non-fiction. Check out Big Mall: Shopping for Meaning, for a good example of my taste.
